New hotel manager coming

We checked out last Friday after 12 nights. It was so much better than our last stay 2 years ago. 11 of the 12 nights were booked with points. 10 nights were booked for 177k points. We were upgraded to their Jr Suite, room #1211, which is a 90sm suite with a pretty full sized kitchen. It’s sure nice to have a full sized fridge and microwave in the room. This hotel only has a very small amount of suites, possibly just this suite and the Presidential suite.

We did very much enjoy the suite, but the outside noises can get pretty loud, day or night. This room is on the top floor, and on the corner of the hotel. The train horns are very loud, and seem to love to be used at 2-3am, especially. Loud motorcycles, ambulances etc also are pretty frequent. The standard rooms overlooking the pool area are much quieter.

The executive lounge, under Lili Yulianti, is fabulous. Great food options, especially in the evening hours. Many exec lounges run out of food, the last hour or 30 minutes. I didn’t see this happen once while I was here. They seem to have a chef one night a week. We had mushroom risotto, which was very nice, and some penne pasta the next week. Both were very good.

Lots of fresh fruit options, and a different soup every night. I’ll have to wait and compare it to the Doubletree Diponegoro lounge this week, but it’s certainly one of the best in Hilton properties in Indonesia.

The old manager at this property left earlier this month. A new one from Europe, I believe, is coming soon.

The swimming pool here is ok, but not very deep, and has inadequate railings to get out of the pool for those, like myself, with mobility issues. I mentioned this to staff, and had a nice employee, Irfan, help me up the last step.

We had an early birthday dinner for my wife, the day before we left. They had a dinner buffet, that I wished I had picked. It was only 250k nett. Unfortunately, I had already ordered off the ala carte menu before looking at it.

I got the Texas beef brisket, for 258k, which I knew was probably going to be a mistake, and I was right. One piece was juicy, the others were too dry. My wife got the chicken schnitzel, for 198k, which was probably the best thing anyone got. My wife’s nephew got one of the standard Nasi Goreng platters, and even that was disappointing.

The service was nice, but some things like not ever taking the menus away seemed wrong. They did bring out a nice little birthday cake, and 8 staff members sang happy birthday, with musical accompaniment. Dinner for 7 was a very reasonable 1.3 juta with service and tax, after the 25% Diamond discount.
