I'm am a bit surprised as an AA EXP (as listed in your profile) you would not be aware of this policy. Or believe AA would know your reasons for violating their policy or how long it would take for you to know your final decision. (Or perhaps you were saying the hold would have expired 6 hours later than they did canceled it, but as I understand it that process is run mutiple times a day and when a duplicated is detected, it is dealt with then.)
