Everything I've read suggests that Qatar use the Clubrooms lounge at Birmingham and that we should have access. However, check in staff had a printed out list and our names weren't on it. We were told no lounge access, but that we'll get it in Doha.
Fortunately I've got one world sapphire through Royal Jordanian status, so were able to get in the lounge that way (and check in staff wrote the lounge pass out when I showed them my membership card).
Am I incorrect in my thinking about lounge access? Has something changed? Or were check in staff (and the printed off list) wrong?
Not a great start to the trip at 5am!
According to QR website on "Worldwide Lounges", QR has no contract lounge in BHX, one of the few outports that don't include any contract lounge for business class / status economy class passengers.
Technically avios redemption tickets should include lounge access. However, when QR doesn't have any agreements with the contract lounge in certain outports, lounge access is not the case. Sometimes meal voucher will be given upon check-in, or check-in staff will refer you to other lounges that are operated by any airlines in OneWorld.
I remembered there is one before covid, but QR "scrapped" that when BHX flights got cancelled from April 2020. Contract lounges has not been reinstated when BHX flight is operated again.
