Interesting! My partner and I had to split a PNR at checkin yesterday for eup purposes. The eup request appeared as waitlisted under trips on the app, but didn’t show up on the upgrade list.

Yes. There's a link between divided PNRs, so they'll always be tied together. I don't know if it's even possible to sever that link.
