Can anyone compare/contrast experiences in EK vs SQ J?

Am most familiar with UA J. I am currently trying to chose between EK vs SQ for a trip HND USA in February.

Have never flown EK before. EK could get me home (ORD). Have flown SQ J before. SQ could get me to JFK (SIN JFK…done this route once before).

Less points, more fees for EK. More points, less fees for SQ. BUT, would have layover in SIN and JFK for SQ.

Any major differences in long haul J product between the two?
