Hi all, just a quick update. The lady at MAD said she couldn’t have it shipped for me to pick up at MEX. (Don’t know why, but she insisted on an address and since I am doing a tour exploring several cities, I had no idea where I’d be when the bag would eventually arrive in Mexico.)

From my AirTag I can see that the bag just landed in MAD (while I am somewhere over the Atlantic Ocean). No notification by text or email has been received.

I will ask IB staff at MEX (if there are any) whether they can have the bag shipped to MEX for me to collect from the airport. Otherwise I’ll pick it up on the way back home via MAD.

It is all rather tragicomic, I’ll admit.

Edit: just to add, in the grand scheme of things, I’m rather relaxed. The bag is half empty as I wanted to use it mainly to bring back tequila, mezcal, and wines from Guadalupe. I bought some supplies in Madrid as well as a smaller check in bag which would fit in the delayed one on the way back to EDI. I didn’t spend too much (roughly 70-80 euros total), so I might not even bother to claim it back or ask insurance.

It is however rather telling that LHR/BA can’t really function on a connection of 75 minutes within the same terminal when the inbound flight is actually early. It is sad and I feel for people who might have more important things in their checked bags (eg wedding dresses, musical instruments, etc.)
