I can confirm the above is correct. Also there is often a slight overlap between bandings. Once you’ve been here a while, you can roughly work out what ‘high’, ‘mid’ and ‘low’ band 2s and 3s earn. Band 1s (senior management) will often have shares and other sweeteners added to their package.

Don’t expect high pay. Staff travel is a perk for sure but how much it’s worth to you really depends on your circumstances. Taxes on tickets make up the bulk of the cost. Flights are often full thanks to good revenue management and some people aren’t good at dealing with the stress of it all. It’s worse if you have a partner or have kids in tow. Fortunately I often travel alone so make it work for me but lots of staff prefer to just book a commercial ticket and be done with it. At least you know you’re getting on and have protections if things go wrong.

Best of luck with your endeavours if you decide to continue applying! If it’s an office role, you’ll probably find lots of like-minded people who are really invested in the company. It’s likely your colleagues will either love aircraft, love travelling or live nearby (or all 3). A few people use the company as a stepping stone into other far higher paying roles but they tend to stay only a few years.

Fascinating and something I have struggled to understand when considering an application.

It really helps when ranges are published, a problem across all sectors it seems.

I would genuinely consider a lower salary as the industry attracts me and I like to travel, hard to know if I am not being short listed purely because my pay is too high vs the role.
