Trying to decide if it's worth pursuing the additional 1000 SQD I need to earn the next priority reward. They do seem to be valuable, arguably almost worth 1000 CAD or more if redeemed usefully?
I find mine to be incredibly valuable based on how I use them...last year I redeemed 2 to save 180,000 points on a J RT to Europe from YYZ...since I value my points at $.018/pt (the rate I can buy them at with the often 100% bonus) that saved me the cash equivalent of $3240. Turn it around and I got 2 J tix to Europe, RT for $3240...not too many chances to find that with cash fares.
Even a Signature Dom J redemption between YYZ - YVR at 50k points each way (which is not un-common if you want to lock in Signature at a decent time and not book 06:30 or 22:10 hoping to do the Same-Day-Change shuffle) saves me $900.
If I was only $1k away, I'd totally do a MR to get to the next threshold...and then make sure I got more than that in value back.
