Having not slept well at all I rose at 04h00 and went to Düsseldorf airport for this flight at 06h45. Everything was efficient, from the S-Bahn train trip to passing through security. Not having lounge access with the BASIC tariff I waited at gate A39, which was a pleasant enough waiting area. The airport was surprisingly busy for such an early hour.
There appeared to be nobody boarding in Group 1 so I boarded early because I was in Group 2. Towards the back of the aircraft there were plenty of spare seats and a few completely empty rows. This flight was operated by an Airbus 320 belonging to the Maltese version of Eurowings Europe (E6) and staff were friendly enough, although their German language knowledge was limited. I ordered a Lavazza coffee and Grünländer cheese sandwich, all for EUR9, which I was glad to have. I think I was the only passenger who bought something off the trolley! There were some lovely sunrise views of the country around Berlin when landing. It was my first time at Berlin Brandenburg airport and it seemed very pleasant and spacious in design.
