Thinking about this after my latest round of PlusPoint upgrade failures. Is the relative worthlessness of 1K PlusPoints due more from people purchasing lower premium cabin fares and cash upgrades or from being trumped by GS PlusPoints? It's stunning to me how useless they have been to me these last 2 years. And no, I do not plan my travel around PP upgrade availability. And when you compare this experience to what people used to experience with CPUs when 1K, it's even more stark. The only practical thing I will miss when I drop to Platinum next year is losing pre-boarding, and that won't be a major loss.
