After more than three hours on the plane, we were informed that the service had been cancelled and that it was too late to be transferred to BA352, which was due to depart at 20.05.
According to Nice Airport, arrivals and departures were operating with a 30-minute delay.
Perhaps the delay might have resulted in the crew being out of hours. Do I have a valid claim?
I was on the next flight (BA356, 17.45) which also got cancelled. We were also rebooked on the 20.05. There were genuine weather issues in Nice, and runway capacity was severely affected, but I suspect BA found it convenient to move two lots of passengers (16.45 flight and 17.45) of almost empty planes onto the 20.05, which still had a few seats left by the time it had taken your group and ours. I am quite sure they won't accept an EU compensation claim - and I think it would be almost impossible to prove it was their issue rather than the weather.
