They should have no problems accommodating you on BA. It's sad that it's so hard. Try chat, or even the app if that turned anything useful in the orange banner that pops up in your reservation.
Both phone and app agents only offer main cabin on AA or cancel for refund if I want to leave before the 14th. I grabbed a business class rebooking on the 14th just to make sure I have something, but getting them to put me onto BA is like pulling teeth. Agents don't even understand the basics of rebooking - just telling me sorry our system doesnt show us anything.
Edit: after spending hours calling and chatting I finally got a competent agent who rebooked us onto BA without too much hassle. Even he was surprised that other agents couldn't or weren't willing to do it since he said its a pretty basic ask during IRROPs to rebook on partner airlines.
