It's a good thing what LATAM Brazil did removing the qualify segments. There are a lot of non-profitable Brazilian travelers who do status run across Brazil flying domestic just to reach top tier categories.
During my last trip to Brazil last month (MIA-GRU-MIA) the upgrade list had like 12 Back Pax and 3 Black Sig (I'm serious). It was INSANE the amount of Black Pax. Way more than platinum or golds. Never seen that before.
However, on other rountrips to different countries, like Chile, or MAD to SCL, the upg list is what one would expect: 1-2 signatures, 3 or 4 blacks, 3-4 platinum and 8 to 10 gold tier. (That's how it's supposed to be, no the other way around lol)
I think LATAM Brazil is trying to lower the amount of top tier flyers here.
MIA probably has more people with black status since US residents need to spend 13k to get it. Also the where wealthy Brazilians live.
GRU to MIA was always a lot less on the upgrade list since most flyers are Brazil residents.
