I suspect there's a generic "recommend me a hotel" thread but I can't find it. Please move this if there is.

We're looking for a 2-night or 3-night stay in a luxury/romantic place, preferably with a spa and good food in an city that's interesting. That's not the kind of trip we're used to, usually we do more active trips and indeed will probably combine it with a 4-6 day stay in a cheaper hotel picked for convenience. But this is a special occasion. It is on somewhat short notice because we didn't think to do this trip until other plans we're all taken care of. We're looking at mid-November and prices seem to be ~ 500 Euros/night which is easily double anything we've spent before.

We're not super familiar with these types of accommodation though. So far we've looked at the WA in Rome and the Caledonian in Edinburgh. But maybe we're missing some much better option? Are there SLH hotels (which I had never heard of before the recent tie-up) nicer than this WA? Are there other cities that would have good places to look at?

(I'm Hilton Gold through a credit card so the lack of breakfast at the WA is annoying but not the end of the world. But a place that has a history of offering things like Executive floor upgrades to Gold or even other benefits like good brekfast or spa benefits would be very interesting)
