Agreed, this is just the PP number. The only place I've ever had an issue is flights out of LHR-USA with the taxes. It's usually ~$120USD for any friends/employees that I upgrade out of there.

My success rate with getting employees upgraded this year has been 90%+, but to be fair its mostly been on SFO-TPE flights and those have been pretty light/moderate loads after they added the second flight. In the vast majority of the cases its only cleared at the gate or day of, but in probably 20% of the cases its been weeks before the flight. I've been shocked with the success rate lately.
