I find some critics a bit harsh. We stayed for a week in a suite 2 years ago (no breakfast then) and my wife stayed again in a suite for a week this year (good breakfast). We both find the hotel very comfortable (apart from the absurdly complicated coffee machine) and everything was spick and span. The staff were pleasant (particularly the housekeeper who was flabbergasted when we tipped her). Some receptionists were not too pleasant 2 years ago but they were better this year my wife tells me. The location is perfect if you like NYC, which I don't--but my wife will be back soon.

I agree. Stayed here last week & had a perfectly fine stay. Booked a suite & got exactly that. Breakfast was good. Clean & comfortable room where everything worked as it should. Had very little interaction with the staff but what I did have was acceptable.
Like I said before, this is by no means my preferred property in the area but I've never had a bad stay here. I have another reservation here for later this month.
