Where in Asia, beyond HKG, are you wanting to visit? What are your desired travel dates? AS will route you through SEA to a Westcoast CX gateway so you are all on one award. If you are hoping to fly CX in a premium cabin, the likelihood of finding CX J NA-HKG & J beyond HKG after a stopover converges on zero. There are also CX JFK-HKG dates available, but they may not coordinate with your travel dates.
Other possible stopover cities from JFK are Toyko on JL and SYD on QF.

Late October to early November. I realize that's not far away; but I seem to have the best luck with award travel when it's either fairly close to departure or up to 11 months away. Thinking about Singapore, Bangkok, Bali, and possibly Australia or NZ. Only looking for Economy class seats. Flew overnight in a fully reclining seat semi-recently and learned I can't sleep on planes, period. So I'm fine with an aisle seat, even for crazy-long segments.
