BA has also now developed the habit of having pilots flick the parking break off and on. This counts as a 'departure' on BA.com and the BA app and is intended to signal that the plane is ready to go and any further delay is not their fault. Unfortunately, it does lead to flights still sitting at the gate 60 minutes after they've 'departed' if there are say ATC delays.
Only on shorthaul. It’s an idea stolen from IB… BA kept coming under IAG fire for being so much weaker than IB so management decided to fudge the figures in the same way to even the playing field a bit.
