Stayed here for 7 nights in Grand Executive Park View (Corner) and 5 nights in Grand Executive Suite Park View.
Pros- Suite Room is really spacious with unlocked (VIP Mode) Air Conditioner. The A/C of the standard room resets to 21 Celsius / 70 Fahrenheit after 2 hours.
- A/C can be customized to heat or cool.
- Bedsheets and mattress were the most comfortable I've experienced (Silk texture).
- Full breakfast included for Platinum+ at 1/F, along with extra Welcome Gift of chocolates.
- 21/F Club is quite interesting, especially the outdoor terrace. Nice view of the Cathedral.
- Close proximity to St James station for T8 trains to the airport.
- Close proximity to Gadigal station for metro.
- Last 5 nights: Booked Hyde Park/City View Room, got Grand Executive Suite Park View only by asking front desk.
Cons- First 7 nights: Booked Hyde Park View Room, got Grand Executive Park View (Corner) with a longer and useless corridor, i.e. literally no upgrade.
- Grand doesn't mean high floor. 10/F or above can still be "Grand". My guess is that the view of 9/F or below can be blocked by a huge tree.
If you really want high floor i.e. 16-20/F, you must book Terrace rooms.
- In-Room Dining quality is unacceptable. The ingredient cost of the $60 steak and $35 pizza is probably less than $10 from supermarket.
- No handheld shower (standing and bathtub), as the bathroom wasn't extensively renovated in 2018.
- Service at the breakfast restaurant and bell desk is hit or miss but issues can be resolved after communicating.
- Swimming pool closes at 9:00 PM which is too early for me. The hot tub is dated and is boiling hot.
Overall, it is a very solid hotel in the CBD and I will come again.
However, given that the other post claimed that 70% of the guests are Platinum+, either stop by the front desk every night to request room change or expect no upgrades.
I would highly recommend booking the Terrace Hyde Park View (Standard Size) (over the Executive Suite Park View) just for the higher floor.
If you got City View room at check in, I suggest that you just cancel the whole stay and forfeit the first night charge. The City rooms are absolutely terrible, and construction work happens on the street 24/7.
