Also, the $5200 doesn't include the SFO-MLE round-trip tickets, which are about $1K per person in economy. I booked using 99K United miles + $130, but it's a terrible redemption. I should probably cancel and pay cash instead. This is for a round-trip on 11/18-25, but I haven’t been able to find any business class award availability.
I agree with you that Hilton strategy is currently better than Marriott and you can even sometimes book the yacht transfer using points which is a pretty good value for that and really lowers your cash out of pocket.

I would personally not redeem 99k UA miles +$130 for a ticket that is $1k in cash. That's less than 1 cpp redemption. It makes me sense to me to pay the cash and earn miles and PQPs for flying if you can't find award flights in J.
