No indication the different numbers serve a different purpose. I call 800 882 8880 for all things AA.

I was on hold for 15 minutes today and I am EXP. Generally speaking, waiting on hold works better for individuals with status. The call back times seem to match the stated call back times. The automated system will tell me the hold times is 2-3 hours but I have never waited on hold for more than 10-20 minutes.
And the automated system does recognize my phone number and the associated status. Call from the phone number associated with your account and the associated status.
