We flew AF PE in 2023 on the old clamshell seats (which contrary to many we found okay as was day time flight and we got decent OLCI upgrade outbound so only had one way). On that occasion I avoided the bulkhead as read in advance that there was no footrest. However based on this video I'd definitely go bulkhead so don't have anyone reclining like this (NB on this video the IFE is in the armsrests and it is flight map monitors on the walls)
