JAL as marketing carrier is the ones responsible for seat assignments, and should be able to help you if you call when not possible online. Though for some partners you get a wider option of seats by doing it on hhe partner website, my experice with AY and BA. You need the partner PNR (which may be the same as JAL depending on partner) and the partner flight number. I have not tried with JL code shares on AS, but AA and BA codes I have needed the AS chat function to get access to the extra legroom seats.
Purchased services ind advance is often not possible on codeshares, so you may also need the AS chat here to help.
Yes, I should try the AS chat first, as it’s a booking in W for the 2 JL sectors and then Y for the AS sector. AS has the “premium” cabin (essentially economy with extra legroom), to which I would like to place my travel companions if possible, instead of normal Y seats.

Entering the eTicket number did not work; AS website wants the number starting with ‘029’ (AS stock), so I think the best option is trying AS chat.
