JMK
As somebody who does operate the JMK flight I can confirm that most of the points above are correct. It can be a challenging destination. Short runway, upslope, narrow, terrain constrained and with ‘interesting’ wind effects. Simulator training is carried out specifically to rehearse scenarios and familiarise with the specific approaches to 34 and 16. Most landing are on 34. 16 is a visual approach. BA have ‘specific track’ approach as described before. Other airlines do other things. With the combined factors of temperature/wind and runway length, landing with a tailwind is not a good idea and thus the switch to 16 when necessary.
