The Leipzig Marriott was far better than I expected based on the room photos - it’s rather impressive how they have managed to maintain this very traditional decor package. Here are my impressions and photos:
Pros:
- Upgraded to a Corner Studio before arrival, which was a large corner room with a sitting area
- Bed was surprisingly updated and comfortable - plush pillows, medium mattress that was not overly firm, covers of good plushness for German AC
- Shower pressure was good
- Furniture was clean and comfortable
- Lovely chocolate croissant bread pudding during afternoon in lounge
- Lounge breakfast (only weekdays - Sat and Sun get restaurant breakfast) was decent for a lounge - decent scrambled eggs, bacon, and croissants
- Offered late checkout - but did not need due to train schedule
Cons:
- AC was not effective - fan at least worked to drown out noise - had to be German and open windows to be comfortable overnight
- No in-room Ambassador welcome gift
- I found the tub to be very narrow to stand in for showering and felt as if I would constantly fall out
I would return. I think I liked this one more than the Westin.
