These days it's pretty easy to book your own plan B and at least get a reusable credit if you don't need to use the plan b flight option. Or rely on trip delay/cancellation coverage. Paying extra everytime you travel to fly a carrier with more backup options doesn't make sense to me but that's just my way of thinking about the available options.
