The JFK-LAX/SFO-JFK upgrades on AA with a GUF are so frustrating, I’ve ended up booking my next 2 trips via Propeller who were able to confirm A class on both transcontinental sectors at time of booking (without needing the A class to be upgrade class availability), so definitely think about that for future trips. I guess by this time next year upgrades with AA via a GUF will be a thing of the past once the new A321’s come on-line. Fingers crossed ‘I’ class is still accessible as the new planes only have 20 J seats (same as the current config) but are losing 10 F seats, so availability will be an issue on the prime time sectors!
