Saw reports on Facebook and online that the first phase of the renovation [the Ipanema Tower and pool] is now complete, and they’ve kicked off the second phase. I haven’t been able to piece together if the original plans to convert the Rio into multiple Hyatt brands is still in effect, or if they’re just lumping the whole thing into Destination by Hyatt, as different articles provide conflicting information and Hyatt hasn’t been clear about these plans of late.
If anyone has any intel or can check with the property on an upcoming visit, that would be much appreciated!

Phrase 1 is not complete, currently they are doing the elevators at Ipanema tower til end of November, close the 5 first then close the other 4 next month. Former gift shop next to the Ipanema tower elevators is also closed for construction. Penthouse and the connector rooms on the 20th floor are also non renovated, but no timeline when will they start doing them
Phrase 2 is the masquerade village and masquerade tower casino floor, may start renovating the suites at masquerade tower but not rooms.
Phrase 3 is the rooms at masquerade tower, won't start til October 2025 and complete not til beginning of 2026. There will have no brand related changes not til all phrases completely finish, so it will be more than a year from now
