I was able to do the same with an Amex travel UA booking in the past although someone recently reported that they weren't able to rebook themselves via UA and need to go through Amex to do so:

Therefore, I'm not sure that a UA booking via Chase Travel would give the same result as you had with Cap1 or like this poster has with Amex travel.
