At CHC domestic arrival to international departure is a 3 minute walk. A short walk from security & emigration e-gates to the lounge and then the gates. CHC is a small airport with little international flights.
Yeah that's right, we'll be booking with Air NZ code sharing to Singapore. There's a few reasons for that and I haven't spoken with an in person travel agent, but from what I've seen in my poking around Air NZ is pretty sharp on price at the moment via Singapore. There's also a curve ball that not a lot of airlines will let me book from Wellington. For example both Singapore & Emirates will only let me book from Auckland or Christchurch, but possibly a travel agent could do something there that I can't.

I have considered Emirates, would have to book with Qantas if booking myself online and Air NZ is priced better.

I haven't flown Singapore before but hear good things about them. Plus an extra bonus, I haven't been on an A380 or A350 before and Singapore offer both of those to Europe

Thanks for everyone's insights and feedback, it's really appreciated.
