IDK what the JAL enployee stuff is about. It would not occur to me to ask the question. Been a while but I once had an overnight 22-hour connection. Another time, I took luggage to leave at the takkyubin counter. Both times, I just left the airport though I&C, got my 90-day temp visitor stamp, and entered Japan. When I returned, I had my boarding pass for the next flight and went through pp control, np. Both times was ANA to Thai connection.

Things changed but I would be stunned if I could not do that today, so maybe I will learn something new on this thread.
