The limitations on the size and weight of checked luggage are detailed on the following page. Ensure that your trunk is within the limits and know the applicable numbers for your trunk in case it is questioned.

The baggage handling process is not gentle. The purpose of the bag is to protect the contents. I would not recommend checking a bag that you want to protect from small dents or scratches. If the purpose of a bag is to remain stylish and attractive then it might be better relegated to carry-on use, where you can take care of it, with a less valuable bag for checking.

If a checked bag is damaged beyond the scratches and dings that would normally be expected, file a claim on arrival and the airline will pay for repair or replacement.
