Are there still restrictions on carrying bottled water onto flights to the U.S. in your hand luggage?
Since my first posting in this thread I've now been five times and will be arriving again next month. On each occasion I've used Uber to go to the airport. Uber adds an airport surcharge of 12.50 Sol, but then drop off is directly outside the terminal door. They've always arrived within a few minutes to my hotels in Miraflores, even at 2/3am without pre-booking. I've tended to go with the Uber Black option and not had any issues with the quality of car as a result.

In the other direction, when arriving at the airport I've always found it too hectic to want to bother with finding a waiting Uber outside. Instead, once through customs, I always use the desk on the far right hand side for a company called CMV. I show the agent the address of my hotel, pay on card and within a few minutes they walk you outside to a waiting car. I've had a mix of vehicles, from Mercedes to mini vans, but they've always been in good nick. It was $39 last time I used them to Miraflores, but for a journey which can take an hour I didn't think it was too bad given the seamless nature.

And yes, bottles of water still get removed during the security check at the gate.
