Difficult to say as no idea how loaded the bus was or how much luggage the PAX had, but i never saw anyone having a problem getting a case on.

As mentioned, cases usually end up in the wheelchair space. If there is a wheelchair user, or a pram, in the space then you might be asked to wait for the next bus
