I am a UA MileagePlus member; my lifetime mileage today stands at 700K miles and I am at Premier Silver status.

Is it worth my while to push to get to become a million miler (i.e. The benefits vs cost of achieving this)?

If so what would it take for me to achieve this in the most economically effective way? Are there some special travel tricks I should use?

Appreciate your help. Thanks.

There are no shortcuts other than fly United flights for 300K miles (and paid flights; no award flights).

Travel can take a toll, so you need to assess your own situation. Business cabin can provide comfort but comes at hefty costs, and offers no additional lifetime miles.
