Is it worth my while to push to get to become a million miler (i.e. The benefits vs cost of achieving this)?
If so what would it take for me to achieve this in the most economically effective way? Are there some special travel tricks I should use?

Take a look at this thread: How I moved from lifetime Gold to lifetime Global Services in 24 months
In my opinion, it is worth it. Lifetime Star Alliance Gold and the ability to have a companion with the same status is great. United lifetime status is better than Delta and American lifetime status.

Post COVID, the fares are more expensive let's say 5 cpm (cents per mile). That means if you do it efficiently (in Economy), it would cost about 300k * $0.05 = $15,000. Alternatively, if you book a flight, calculate the miles flown with gcmap.com then multiply by $0.05 to see if it's a good "deal" for this purpose. Other than that, long flights are better than short flights and ... good luck!
