True premium would be a few rows of 2 x 2 along with extra pitch. Hip/shoulder room is much more important than leg room, IMO.
Certainly for COS, it's a way to avoid the "buy two, get a refund if the plane isn't full" issue with assigned seats. How might they reserve the second seat without blocking it in the seat assignment system?
