TK's is a confusing world.

For business-class travel, a forced transit time beyond 9 hours, gives you a hotel stay + transport and meals. For economy-class travel the cut-off is 12 hours. Forced transit means there's no scheduled connections, available or not, with a transit time below the cut-offs. The facility is driven by those scheduled connection times and can be claimed for both outward and return itineraries.

Confusingly, a similar, but completely different stopover package is offered. Qualification is a tad complicated, but essentially it is governed by the pairing of origin and destination countries (e.g. US and Ireland, OK; Mexico and Ireland not OK). The number of stopover nights and class of accommodation is ruled by class of travel. You're on your own with regards to transport. And the perk is only available outbound or inbound.

This thread's wiki gives a more thorough overview.
