I think about this from time to time, and agree with eponymous_coward.
  1. From time to time I check Hyatt for where I'm going. Often there are no Hyatt options or there are a few and the location/price is terrible.
  2. I don't travel on OPM so I can't hit 60 nights organically. I had Explorist before through a match and it was useless. I don't have the spend to get it through CC. I also don't have a friend with Globalist, but am open to offers
  3. There are a lack of high end Hyatt hotels that I want to visit. Especially after SLH is now with Hilton. Marriott has better high end hotels too.
  4. Hyatt points are easy to get from Chase or Bilt. If I really want to stay at some high end Hyatt, I can just transfer points there and then buy the upgrade/breakfast I want instead of grinding out 2 months of each year. That is definitely cheaper too. It's sort of like how paying for your room in a casino is cheaper than gambling and getting it for "free", but I digress. Marriott points are hard to get, especially because the Marriott cards don't have good multipliers.
  5. Hyatt gives you a Category 1-4 certificate from personal card / 30 nights and only a category 1-7 certificate after 60 nights. I am really not interested in a low level certificate without meaningful status.
I am not really concerned about the fees/monthly credits etc. I just write it down on a todo list and get it done. As long as I keep getting positive value out them, I'll keep them.
