That's a different issue. Your prior question was "Where in the TOS does it say my points (yes, my points, which were used to book the flight, hope it's clear) will not be refunded if the flight is cancelled?" AMEX clearly has the right to do what it did under its anti-gaming catch-all provision. Whether AMEX is accurately describing the factual basis for what it did is a separate question.
If you hadn't been caught gaming, you'd have a much better case for a remedy. Put this thread in the "I got caught gaming and the outcome sucked for me" category.
