The club lounges at Heathrow aren't all that good anyway and for a short flight I'd be fine with no free middle. If there are weather issues you'd be transferred to LHR and this is straightforward.
I would personally go in economy if I were paying myself and didn't need TPs, the experience is quite similar and you just need to add a checked bag.
LCY vs LHR is subjective, but I'm with you. For a shorthaul hop LCY is so much better, the DLR station is 100m walk to checkin, security is usually a breeze, I normally only get to the airport 45 minutes before my flight so through security and straight to boarding gate.
2C/2D are the best CE seats on the Citiflyer fleet, a couple of metres of leg space.
Although I've done 5-6 trips to Berlin in CE the last few months and not received any vouchers for food/drink?
