Fogo is very seductive and I hope to go some day but it is twice to thrice the per-night-cost. And, of course, this is a thread for REMOTE properties, both Fogo and Trout Point are, er, on point. Trout Point is lakeside and riparian so a very different ethos than seaside Fogo and its tremendous tides and setting. Both more than worthy.
EDITED TO ADD: Speaking of Fogo, Nimmo Bay recently imported the Fogo chef for a culinary event: “
For the Savour the Coast retreat, Nimmo Bay has brought in chef Benjamin Wood and guide Lorie Penton from Newfoundland’s Fogo Island Inn; and the owners of Bella Wines in Naramata (whose wines we will soon be drinking).” I’ll arrive Nimmo Thursday, sadly not for this event but am confident of outstanding cuisine.
