Shortly thereafter, I had another notification in the IHG App having the same offer except for a requirement of only 10 nights. Here, I could sign up successfully.
(Since I have currently booked a number of stays/nights which would me land at 70 nights sharp anyway, the offer only has limited benefit for me.)
I received an e-mail - "Just for you: Stay 10 nights to get Diamond Elite status".
Well, clearly and unsurprisingly it's not just for me, plus currently I'm sitting on 63 nights - with enough booked on pre-pay alone to carry me well over the Diamond requirement.
IHG IT at its finest, once again.
