Your hotel or Airbnb will be mysteriously cancelled and sold for triple the rate you booked. AA flight gets upgraded to a 777 and you end up in a middle seat with no other seats available.

in all seriousness, you may get asked to volunteer in an overbooked situation, but you won’t know until you check in or get a call the night before.
