For me in order of priority:
1. Pricing. Marriott, Hilton and Hyatt charge insane premiums especially in Europe. Accor hotels are much more affordable and quite frankly i don’t care about free breakfast when it’s costing me 30 to 50 percent more to stay at a hilton.
2. The subcriptions are nice: ALL signature can earn you redeemable points for about 30 percent off during black Friday. Disloyalty by Ennismore isn’t great because you can’t earn points are anything but you do get a free daily coffee and i happen to live in front of an ennismore hotel. ALL Plus and Accor Plus are good. Currently a subscriber of the second. They said they would combine them this year but we are in october and still no news.
3. no orphan points and redeemable whenever. No blackout dates. As long as you have 1000 points you can spend them.
What I dislike
1. SNUs are weak. Other hotel groups do them better for sure.
2. I wish there was milestone awards for someone like me at 140 nights this year. Most of my stays aren’t too crazy so I’m only platinum but it would be nice to get points or even like a « breakfast reward »
3. Loyalty perks are stingy. Welcome drinks sometimes are great sometimes they are given to you like you’re a rat and then they limit it to wine that tastes more like gasoline. Upgrades are OK generally. No breakfast is unfortunate but id rather not pay for it indirectly with inflated rates
4. The exclusions: Everything is so confusing. Every benefit has brand exclusions, black out days, hotel exclusions, country exclusions, restaurant exclusions. Never give accor money without reading the T&Cs. Even when you read them sometimes you show up and there’s an exclusion and accor customer service is awful
