The Intercontinental was full when I reserved (sadly). At the 260 euro rate that I paid, this hotel disappoints.
We left the hotel and had a pizza a few blocks away. Google maps did not show any good options nearby.
The hotel is definitely not worth 260 euros (although, with the crazy prices in Europe, you can expect anything).
The hotel has been completely refurbished and I find the design very fresh in its movida spirit.
A stone's throw from the hotel is
Bodega Amposta, a very solid tapas bar.
And a 10-minute walk away is the superb
Enigma, quite simply the most extraordinary restaurant in Barcelona.
As for sockets, I did have some in my bedroom (at the bottom of the bedside table):
