Data point about getting the card again

I applied for the Barclay AAdvantage Aviator Red Mastercard on 7/21/2021 for 60k points with the link that waived the annual fee for the first year and was instantly approved. I cancelled after 1 year because they wouldn’t downgrade to the no-fee aviator card (the only product change they offered me was an upgrade to the silver aviator card). I called more than once but it was always the same so I cancelled (this would have been August 2022.

I applied again on 9/27/2024 with the 70k point link and it said it went for review. On 9/30/2024 I checked online to see the status of the application and it said they were unable to issue the card to me at this time and I would get a letter with the reasons. I immediately called reconsideration and they told me they just needed to conduct a security check (they called my phone while I was on the line with them on the same phone). At that point they immediately approved me. I have not yet received the letter yet so I can't tell you what it said at this time, but they didn't seem to have a problem giving me the card a second time. My last Barclay application was December 2023 when I applied for the Wyndham Business Earner card (for which I had to the do the same security check along with sending them my Driver's License).
