The Bristol Royal is the best, they have a huge range of suites and the times I have been we have been upgraded to one. Lots for kids in Bristol. There’s a zoo, the SS Great Britain, a science museum, city museum etc. The streets are full of beggars and homeless, but sadly, most cities in the UK are. As stated before there are some dreary Marriott hotels around the country and a handful of decent ones. Leicester is a fantastic hotel, with Richard III buried at the cathedral, a space museum, zoo at Twycross, an adventure playground called Conkers. You need a car to enjoy all that. Oxford Courtyard has very small rooms, definitely need two. Not very interesting for children, fantastic for adults who have watched Inspector Morse or Brideshead Revisited. As stated, Edinburgh and Manchester have multiple hotels, all expensive. Durham is nice, I think they used some of the buildings in Harry Potter. I could go on and on, but was thinking of your children being entertained mostly.

What time of year are you looking.
Thank you all so much for your replies - it was for this weekend and just for one night to escape London - I was really looking for a property that is itself good for kids - my options may be limited given the short notice but I will try some of the recommendations here and see what is available.
