Really? Is this an official policy or at BA's discretion? I was admitted to A&E with a viral infection last year and BA did kindly give me an eVoucher to rebook my flight that was scheduled for 2 days later (within 2 years) but the agent informed me this was: (a) a goodwill gesture for being a Gold member; and (b) a one-off that I wouldn't be able to use again in the future. I would have had no issue using travel insurance but this was of course much easier and faster; however, I was under the impression the agent was doing me a favour; not that it was an entitlement: isn't that the point of insurance?
