Frankly, it's not worth the premium over normal rooms. It's a half-in, half-out concept that aspires to be a luxury ryokan experience but seems more like staying in a hotel room with tatami mats. They provide a communal ryokan floor guests only lounge (for breakfast, Japanese tea, sweets). They're serving Japanese booze until Feb 2025 as an opening gesture for Gensui guests.
I think it would have been better for them to offer an option for Japanese breakfast served in your own tatami rooms. Maybe even a full board option for those looking to go pure ryokan and not leave the hotel. Most luxury ryokans will serve guests in their rooms.
The swimming pool was also a bit disappointing for a new build, market leading hotel. Very plain looking and doesn't exactly show ultra luxury.
I don't even want to get into the various service hiccups.
